A partire da oggi, Google farà ufficialmente parte di Alphabet

Il giorno è arrivato, le carte sono state firmate ed ora è ufficiale: Google adesso fa parte di Alphabet, la nuova società di Larry Page e Sergey Brin che servirà da "contenitore" per tutte le attività che una volta lavoravano all'interno di Google.

Come sapevamo, Sundar Pichai manterrà il suo ruolo guida in Google, ma ora sotto forma di CEO (Chief Executive Officer, ovvero amministratore delegato): gestirà Android, il servizio di ricerca, YouTube, le app, Maps e Ads.

A comporre Alphabet, oltre a Google troviamo Fiber (per i servizi internet ad alta velocità), Calico e Life Sciences (salute), Ventures e Capital (per gli investimenti), Nest (per la demotica) e Google X (il laboratorio che si occupa di sviluppare progetti innovativi). Come già sapevamo, non ci sarà spazio per Niantic, che ha già preso la sua strada come società indipendente.

Vista la divisione, potremo ancora riferirci a Google quando parleremo di Android, YouTube, Maps, e di tutti i servizi per cui l'azienda di Mountain View è diventata famosa: all'atto pratico, il cambiamento ha più risvolti economici che sostanziali per l'utente finale. Google Inc. announced today that, pursuant to its previously announced plans to create a new public holding company, Alphabet Inc. ("Alphabet"), by implementing a holding company reorganization (the "Alphabet Merger"), it expects that the Alphabet Merger will close after the close of business on October 2, 2015. Google anticipates that shares of Google Class C Capital Stock and shares of Google Class A Common Stock will begin trading as Alphabet Class C Capital Stock and Alphabet Class A Common Stock, respectively, on the NASDAQ Global Select Market on October 5, 2015. Shares of Alphabet Class C Capital Stock and shares of Alphabet Class A Common Stock will continue to be traded under the same ticker symbols under GOOG and GOOGL, respectively.
