AirPlay si rifà il trucco per iOS 9: aggiornamenti per la sicurezza e la velocità

Stando a quanto riferito dalla software house Squirrels alla redazione di 9to5Mac, il protocollo di streaming AirPlay con iOS 9 potrebbe ricevere degli aggiornamenti importanti, votati alla sicurezza ed alla velocità di riproduzione.

Gli sviluppatori di Squirrels hanno realizzato il ricevitore software per AirPlay Reflector 2, utile nel caso si voglia effettuare il mirroring di iPhone ed iPad su altri schermi (ma non solo). Analizzando la nuova versione di AirPlay su iOS 9, hanno commentato così le modifiche:

A lot of the pairing setups (like how your mobile device interacts with a receiver) have changed. A lot of the exchanges between an iOS device and an Apple TV or any of the receivers have changed. The actual mechanism through which a mirroring connection is established was entirely overhauled. So, many underlying AirPlay components and protocols are entirely different in iOS 9. Not only at a security level but also with the way the two devices talk to each other.

We discovered AirPlay has improved security, it’s faster and it improves overall performance. Using some of the new security features Apple implemented, the whole stack moves a lot faster. It allows for more interesting things like one-time pairing. That means less battery drainage and faster encryption and connection.

Quindi, molti componenti e protocolli di AirPlay sono differenti rispetto al passato, in favore di connessioni più sicure ed efficienti, con un probabile impatto (in positivo) sulla batteria.

Inoltre, molto interessante potrebbe essere la nuova funzione di accoppiamento, che richiederebbe l'autenticazione solo la prima volta che si connettono due dispositivi. Queste modifiche potrebbero essere state apportate a causa di HomeKit, di cui AppleTV dovrebbe fungere da HUB e forse ritardato anche a causa di problemi di sicurezza.
